Kathleen hails from Tucson AZ and wails in L.A. What happens when a lover of
Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell gets a jazz education? The answer is found in
the music of Kathleen Grace. Her repertoire is often compared to Madelein
Payroux, Bill Frisel and Tierney Sutton. The cool toned vocalist was awarded
the Jazz Ahead Residency at the famed Kennedy Center. A member fo the USC
jazz faculty, Kathleen was also a finalist in the Montreux Jazz Festival
International Vocal Competition. She and her band recently returned from a
very successful New York debut and will be headed into to the studio in

Presented as a "Jazz Party," the evening offers time to mix with the
performers and will feature artists including Grammy-nominated musicians Kim
Richmond, saxophone, and Chris Walden, trumpet, Seattle trumpeter Thomas
Marriott, drummers Matt Jorgensen & John Bishop, Los Angeles saxophonists
Rob Lockart, David Sills & Matt Otto, plus several more, all performing
music from their recent Origin recordings.
They will be taking turns performing throughout the night.

Guitarist Perry Smith is quickly gaining recognition as one of the bright young stars in today’s jazz scene. Residing in L.A and working primarily with the New West Guitar Quartet, vocalist Kathleen Grace and his own group, he has performed extensively throughout the United States, Japan and Canada. He is an award-winning composer receiving honors such as, Finalist for the 2007 International Songwriting Competition, and the ASCAP 2006 Young Jazz Composers Award. In 2005 he graduated from the Thornton School of Music at USC with a Bachelor of Music. As a student he studied with legendary guitarist Joe Diorio and composition with bassist John Clayton. He has performed or recorded with such artist as Dave Brubeck, Nancy Wilson, Bobby McFerrin, Louie Bellson, Kenny Wheller, Larry Goldings, Joe Labarbra, Peter Erksine, Bob Sheppard, Darek Oles, Alan Pasqua, Roy McCurdy and Charles McPherson.

Katisse Buckingham is releasing his first solo album;
a seamless mix of jazz, Hip-Hop (with conscious
lyrics), and world music. Katisse plays Tenor, Alto &
Soprano Saxophones, Flute, Alto Flute & Ethnic Flutes
and is also an MC. His group includes Chris Wabich-
Drums, Doug Shreeve- Bass, Dennis Hamm, and J'Nae-
Vocals.
Katisse has performed and/or recorded with
Yellowjackets, Dr. Dre, Airto & Flora Purim, Vanessa
Paradis, Herbie Hancock, Andy Summers, Brian Auger,
John Patitucci, Ricky Lawson, Terri Lyne Carrington,
Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Strunz and Farah, Bill
Summers, Jimmy Haslip, and dozens of others. He can be
heard on numerous films, including the "jazz
flute" scene in the Will Ferrell film, "Anchorman".

Mahesh Balasooriya attended University of Southern California. He is a jazz and classical pianist,; selected as one of two pianists worldwide entering the Henry Mancini Institute program; won most outstanding rhythm player at Monterey Jazz Festival, selected to tour with All Star band in Japan; won first place in the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts talent search, Won first place in the John Coltrane competition, He has played and worked with so many jazz greats including Christian Mc Bride, Larry Goldings, Roy Hargrove, John Clayton, Eddie Daniels, Johnny Mandel, Randy Brecker, Eric Reed, Hubert Laws, Patti Austin;Bowl. Sselected to do major recording projects at Paramount studios, Universal music productions, and Sony studios.
